Automatic Pool Cleaners
There are three types of automatic pool cleaners as listed below.
Robotic pool cleaners
Robotic pool cleaners are the best, most efficient and quickest way to clean a pool. They are also the most expensive type of automatic pool cleaner but they are by far the best. Robotic pool cleaners are low voltage electrical machines that are dropped into the pool, the electric cable that is attached to it is then plugged into the power supply which in turn plugs into the 240v mains power outlet. This power supply converts the voltage down to low voltage so the automatic pool cleaner is safe to use in the water. Once the machine is in the water and plugged in, just turn it on and it will start its cleaning cycle around the pool. These machines all have onboard computers that work out the size and shape of the pool enabling the machine to plot a cleaning path that will cover all the pool in minimum time. Robotic pool cleaners have filter bags or box systems that collects all of the dirt and debris onboard. Once the machine has finished its cycle it is then lifted out of the pool and the filter is emptied and cleaned then all ready for next time.Suction Pool Cleaners
Suction pool cleaners are the most popular type of automatic pool cleaner as they are fairly simply and cheap to purchase. These types of pool cleaners have a hose attached to them which connects up to either a purpose made suction point on the pool or can be connected to the skimmer. These machines are powered by the pool filtration pump which causes the automatic pool cleaner to move slowly around the pool vacuuming up the debris and sending it back down the hose to the pool filter. The disadvantages with these cleaners is that they will take a long time to clean a pool and they are more likely to get stuck than a robotic pool cleaner would. Also as they suck dirt back to the pools filter, this will cause the filter to require a backwash more frequently, which in turn costs money as this involves pumping heating water and chemicals down the drain.
Pressure Pool Cleaners
These types of automatic pool cleaners use a dedicated pool pump which is usually installed in the plant room. This pool pump is connected to a dedicated pipe which returns to the pool. A hose then connects the pool return pipe to the pool cleaner. The pressure from the pump propels the machine around the pool and the dirt and debris is collected in an onboard filter bag. The advantage of these cleaners is that the dirt is not taken back to the pool filter, this helps reduce the amount of backwashing required. Pressure pool cleaners are not something that can easily be added to a pool as the return suction line really needs to be installed when the pool is built. Many people have moved away from having these installed when a pool is built as robotic pool cleaners are a better and more cost effective solution these days.- Maximum pool size that the machine can clean is 20m
- Cable length 24m
- Filter bag 70 microns

Please note that this robotic pool cleaner comes with PVC brushes as standard, so the wonder brushes may need to be purchased depending on your pool surface.
The BWT D600 is a top of the range residential robotic pool cleaner that offers fully automatic cleaning of the pool floor and walls right up to to the waterline. Just place the machine in the pool and plug it in, turn it on and watch the pool robot clean the entire pool on its own. The D600 robotic pool cleaner collects all the dirt and debris to its 4D onboard top access easy clean filters. Once the machine has finished it will turn itself so it can be removed from the pool, the filters can then be cleaned and ready for next time.
This robotic pool cleaner has cleaning cycles of 1.5, 2 or 2.5 hours. It also has a filter full indicator. It is equipped with PVA brushes as standard which will work on any pool surface and will clean any shape residential pool. The Aquabot Magnum Junior cleans the floor, walls and waterline. The advanced gyroscope control ensures total coverage of the pool surface.
You can choose to operate the cleaner in one of it’s three different programs:
3 hour (floor only), 4 hour (floor and wall), or 5 hour (floor and wall).
The cleaner comes with remote control, 30 metres of cable and a trolley. It has 3 high quality DC brushless motors, and a filtering capacity of over 16 cubic metres per hour.
The Aquabot Magnum is the perfect automatic pool cleaner for medium sized commercial or public swimming pools. It is designed to be used in swimming facilities at schools, leisure centres, universities, hospitals, and the hotel/motel industry. This unit is fully automatic and completely self contained. The Magnum requires no special hook-up or hoses.
The Aquabot Magnum commercial pool cleaner will clean pools up to 30 metres, cleaning the floor, walls and waterline. The advanced gyroscope control ensures total coverage of the pool surface. You can choose to operate the cleaner in one of it’s three different programs: 3 hour / 4 hour / 5 hour (floor only).
The cleaner also comes with remote control, 30 meters of cable and a caddy.
It has 3 high quality DC brushless motors and a filtering capacity of 22 cubic metres per hour.
The Aquabot UltraMax is our top of the range commercial robotic pool cleaner. This machine is suitable for cleaning commercial pools up to 50m long, it comes with a caddy and wireless remote control so the machine can be steered for pin point cleaning if required.
The Aquabot Ultramax is equipped with the Aquasmart Gyro system onboard which allows the pool robot to workout and calculate the optimum route to enable the machine to cover the whole pool in minimum time.
This machine will work on commercial pools of all shapes and surfaces and has cleaning cycles of 3, 4 and 6 hours. A useful feature of this machine is the delay timer, which can be set once the machine is put into the pool on an evening. This then allows all the debris in the pool to sink to the bottom before the machine starts its cycle.
